Advices for spring time
All of the winter protection from our plants, especially roses should be removed. Please keep in mind that negative temperatures can occur, so be ready to temporarily cover the plants, especially for the night.
Before seeding and planting cultivation of the soil is necessary if that was not done in autumn. After that the top layer needs to be leveled out with rakes. After that the soil needs to be left untouched for at least a week so it could settle. If shrubs and bushes were not planted in autumn it is best to do so before buds appear. Do not forget to form a small indentation around the bottom of the plant for capturing water.
First plants to be seeded are those with best low temperature tolerance.
Covering our plants with foil or cloth will speed up the vegetation proccess by up to two weeks. It is most recommended while planting greens, especially strawberries. In April first tomatoes can be planted, but with a lot of attention for temperature drops at nigt. At this time of the year bulb flowers that bloom in the Autumn should be planted. The depth on which bulbs are planted should be equal to a third of its height.
Proper fertilization is one of predominant factors in gardening.
Besides organic feritilizers that are used in the beginning, mineral supplements need to be used. They come in different forms such as powder, granulate, liquid. It is very practical to use fertilizers with extended functioning (ie. 6 months) so plants are provided with minerals during the entire vegetation period. When dosing mineral fertilizers make sure to strictly adhere to producer’s specifications. Applying too much will ruin the plants.
Liquid fertilizers applied directly to the leafs work the fastest. Gardeners often add when using pesticides.
